Thank You

Today is one of those days that have a lot of expectations. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, stressed out, sad, and preoccupied by everything going on. Whatever you're doing today, take a few moments and reflect on what you're truly grateful for. I know that sounds cliche, corny or tacky but seriously, do it. Many people keep a journal just for writing down their gratitude's (like myself) and find tremendous happiness, optimism and sense of well-being from regularly reflecting on what they're grateful for. It doesn't have to be long, just a sentence or two. So today, being Thanksgiving and all, I would like to share what I'm grateful for.

Today I'm grateful for my family; for my incredible parents, for my best friend and supportive husband Corey, for my awesome brother and sister (in-law) and their two freakin adorable daughters (our nieces!), for the radest Mama Dew (mother-in-law), for my grandmother who is 95 and a force to be reckoned with, and for all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins and even third cousins that I've got out there, even those of you who I've never met, I'm still happy to know I have family out there, somewhere.

Today I'm grateful for my dogs Ruca and Tron. These dogs are an integral part of my life and the love I have for them is quite unreal (some might say a little crazy...)

Today I'm grateful for soy-free, 80% dark chocolate.

Today I'm grateful for pastured bacon.

Today I'm grateful for ski socks and big hoodies.

Today I'm grateful for my friends who are scattered all over the world.

Today I'm grateful for hot tea and crispy turkey skin.

Today I'm grateful for mountains, for trees, for rivers, for snow, for sunshine, for cool breezes and silence.

Today I'm grateful for my health and healthcare team. My health is everything to me.

Today I'm grateful for love.

Today I'm grateful for all of you awesome people, who somehow made it here and took the time to read my writings.

Focus on the positivity. As negativity enters you life, recognize it and release it as soon as you can. You don't need that shit. Be grateful for what you have right here, right now because that's the only thing that matters.

Keeping It Real

My whole life I've always just wanted to keep it real. Ever since I was little, I've preferred spending my days adventuring in the woods, climbing trees, swimming until my hands and feet were pruned and playing with my dogs. Being immersed in nature is the real deal to me. Nature is raw, unforgiving, beautiful and more powerful than we can ever imagine. In regards to my human relationships, I try to always surround myself with people who I know I can trust. The people who become an integral part of my life are those who are genuine, honest, respectful and supportive. I try to emulate these qualities in my relationships, work ethic and everyday life. I've never tried to be someone I'm not and don't plan on starting anytime soon. I thrive off of real connections, real communication, real experiences, real food, real love, real happiness and real health.

As I continue to move through life in this wild world, it becomes more and more evident to me that one of my top goals is just to keep it real.  I think if we could all just be a little more honest, especially when it comes to communication, we'd cut out a lot of the bullshit. This bullshit usually manifests itself as stress, and we all know how evil stress can be. Life is too short to not say or do the things we want to do! We're only right here, right now for so long. Holding back, whether that's in communication with others, changing careers or putting in the time, money and effort to improve your health, is no way to spend our time here on earth. That's just my two cents...

As I continue to pursue my passion and a career helping others improve their health, I just want you to know that I'll be keeping it real no matter what. I do everything I do because I believe in my mission, I believe I'm meant to make a difference and I believe that you have the ability to achieve whatever your desires are.

So if you need me just reach out. I'm here to help. For real. ; )

More Love.

Last night Donald Trump was elected our President....

I just stared at this sentence after I wrote it. I honestly didn't think this day would come. Enough people actually banded together to elect someone into office who openly represents so much negativity. Last night our country voted for racism. We voted for hatred. We voted for bullies. We voted for misogyny. We voted for xenophobia. We voted for ignorance. But most of all, we voted for fear and out of fear. The theme of this whole election has been fear. Fear of what's going to happen to our world in the future, whether its the climate crisis or World War III. Fear for our health and safety, especially for our children. What kind of world will they grow up in? Fear for our families based on the color of our skin. Fear for being a woman. For raising a daughter in a world that appears to promote rape culture.  Fear for choosing "the lesser of two evils". Yes fear, has been the predominant theme in our world lately.

While people will always have their opinions and the arguments will never end, let's all agree on one thing...our world could use more love. Now is the time to come together as a global community, to support one another, to show love, compassion, understanding and respect. We would benefit from practicing patience, virtue and love for EVERYBODY (even those who openly voted for Trump.)  Do not let what happened last night divide us even further. Listen, absorb, try to understand and respond with love. All we can do is fear less, ignore hate, be strong and love more,

I love you.
